HEIDELBERG
THE ROSARY AND THE BASTARD - MERCENARY LIFE IN THE 15TH CENTURY
Accompany us on our twilight walk around HeidelbergCastle and listen to stories from the lives and daily routines of the
castle inhabitants by flickering candlelight. History and soldiers’ Latin draw a colourful picture of a time which was not all that dark. Naturally we will consider serious questions such as the
purpose of the small bells on the privy capsule of the lords of creation! Fortress Heidelberg as well as service and equipment will be explained by our ‘time traveller’, and the history of his
estate. Your guide is authentically dressed and acoutered. In other words, our special twilight tour will take you into the period of the late Middle Ages and will present the castle and its gardens in a
truly different light. Give it a try - see history face to face!

‘BEGGARS, BATHS AND EXECUTIONERS’
This is an excursion through mediaeval criminal history.
Our ‘special’ tour will present you some choice criminal cases and places from different centuries; you can hear
‘contemporary witnesses’ and ‘participants’ describe the cases from their point of view.
Look forward to meeting a captain of the Heidelberg Town Watch, a writer of history, an executioner or a judge. Of course,
our witnesses are properly clothed, thus offering authentic views of Heidelberg’s criminal history. The pub walk meets the street theatre and the detective thriller meets living history – certainly a
mixture offering more than mere entertainment.
You can hear from the lips of a 15th century bawdy house owner what rights and duties were current in the bordellos of the
time, and what exactly was served at the ‘Table of Open Women’. Speaking of serving, of course contemporary refreshments such as ‘Hippokras’ or punch will sweeten your criminalistic journey into
time.

We will be pleased to combine the subject matter according to your wishes. Would you like to meet a representative of your own
‘guild’, or would you like to hear something about the health inspectors of the 15th century? Just tell us. We will then create your individual excursion into the history of crime. Look forward to an evening ‘Face to Face with History’.
For the conclusion we will serve you and your guests a meal of dishes prepared according to regional or historical recipes. If you
wish, your meal can be a memorable high table with an artistic programme on the side.

HEIDELBERG MYSTERY
‘BEGGARS, THIEVES AND CUTTHROATS’ – LIVING HISTORY ON THE HEILIGENBERG
On the Heiligenberg the ingredients for your atmospheric adventure are: an old Celtic fortification, a ritual well of unknown and
secret purpose, and dark monastery ruins. Our gripping journey takes us into the history of one of the oldest settlements in the region, whose remains wait for you to discover in the thick forest. If you
are not afraid of stories of Black Riders, a headless lady from the time of the Crusades and a darkt crypt, then follow a princely hunting party on their hunt through the ‘frightening’ forest. On the
way you will meet many a doubtful figure and historical person. But not to worry, your escorts are well-armed and experienced fighting men. Our historical people are suitably attired and equipped and
will provide you with glimpses of sagas, tales and history, as well as the daily life of long ago.
We will construct your ‘Living History’ experience to suit your tastes.

Would you like to meet a Celtic warrior, a Roman soldier, an abbot or a pilgrim, talk with a hunting party or have a wise woman brew you a herb
concoction to ease your complaints? Let us know what you would like!
To finish the day, we will go to a gourmet restaurant at the edge of the Old Town of Heidelberg. You will find tasteful, light cuisine, a wide
choice of fine wines and famous desserts there.

STUDENT HEIDELBERG
Experience everything of interest on this mixture of guided tour and pub walk about the history of Germany’s oldest university,
historical buildings and student locals, as well as anecdotes of student life in Heidelberg. Among the sights are the OldUniversity, the NewUniversity and Witches’ Tower, the University Library, the
Student Prison, etc. General elements of the town history of Heidelberg are also part of the tour. But don’t worry, things will not be as fatiguing as they sound, as we will be taking a few
‘refreshment breaks’ underway.
Following our town tour we will go for supper in a traditional student fraternity house.
The house is located in the middle of Heidelberg’s OldTown and its ballroom offers an ideal venue for your evening event.
A specially arranged and catered buffet supper, for example, could please your guests’ palates.

|
By way of an artistic programme for the accompaniment of our ‘student evening’ we recommend a pianist who will entertain your guests with
background dinner music during the meal and later on with typical Heidelberg student songs. For the start of the evening an a-cappella group could appear.
