MECKLENBURG-WESTERN POMERANIA
CASTLES, PALACES, TRADESMEN
An expedition to the points of interest in Mecklenburg – Western Pomerania.
The poor huts of the peasants and day labourers have long since crumbled to dust; but over 1000 castles, fortresses,
palaces, and manor houses in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania still bear witness to one-time wealth and grandeur, more yet to the special history of the country. Not all of them survived the numerous wars
and economic troubles of past years. Many have been renovated at considerable expense in the last few years, however, and have been awakened to a new life as hotels, restaurants and museums.
Our programme will show you the points of particular interest in this region. Wander through a reconstructed village of
the 8th century with our ‘Slavs’, listen to the scurrilous stories of odd artists in a unique palace atelier, learn about the only hill fort in North Germany and experience a dark and gloomy witches’ dungeon.
Naturally, our programme also includes trying out culinary specialities and demonstrations of traditional handicrafts.
