NUREMBERG

GREAT MASTERS, GLOOMY PRISONS AND TRADITIONAL BEERS

The city on the Pegnitz river, first mentioned in a document 1050, has a great past that can be seen everywhere in the historical centre of the Franconian metropolis. During your visit, you will not only become acquainted with the classical points of interest such as the Albrecht Dürer House and the Old Town with its walls and 80 towers, but with us you will also discover the ‘Underworld’ of Nuremberg, with its tunnels and prisons in the cliffs.

During our exclusive tour of the cliff tunnels you will first learn useful things about the history of the old vaults and their uses, before we come to their present purpose, the storage of beer. Many old breweries are still connected to the cliff tunnels today, and we will use one of these to enter a microbrewery. Here various traditional beers await you, accompanied of course by the famous Nuremberg fried sausages. Our expert in matters of beer and tobacco will introduce you to the entertaining history of the ‘liquid bread’, as it is affectionately called in German.

Naturally a visit to the Germanisches Nationalmuseum (GermanicNationalMuseum) and an extraordinary evening in the company of the Nuremberg City Watch in one of the most interesting buildings in the Old Town of Nuremberg are a ‘must’.
