‘A DAY IN THE MIDDLE AGES’

Dare to travel back in time to a ‘dark age’ in European history, which, in the course of our programme, will prove to be much less dark than one might think.

At the centre of this exciting day is the experience of practical, ‘hands-on’ trying out: trying out mediaeval arts, crafts, and, of course, sensual pleasures of the time. Our programme will give you and your guests a look at art and daily life in the Middle Ages.

Watch skilled craftsmen ply their trades, learn about the fine art of metalworking and produce your own objects with the instruction of a master. Or enjoy crossbow shooting or spear throwing.

As the daily life of a castle is by no means occupied solely with peaceful pursuits, lessons in the arts of war will also be offered. Sword-fighting, archery, axe-throwing, and the use of the halberd are some of the courses, and of course the right way to put on and wear chain mail and armour.

But the sensual side of the Middle Ages will not be ignored, either. After work is done, we will enjoy a feast and music to round off the evening.
